After skin has peeled from a sunburnt... how long does it take for the new skin to be normal?

my skin has been peeling from a sunburnt.. it peeled several times because several layers were damaged i guess.. the burnt part of my face peeled and now the new skin is itchy and red..and slighty bumpy.. why is this? how long does it take for the new skin to be normal and fully heal? what can i do to make healing faster?

use ocean potion about 3 times a day. this will "calm" your skin down and make it heal faster, which is about a week. if it lasts longer than that you really need to see a doctor about it.

A WEEK
Reply:a week. lotion will help it and peeling it as it sheds off will too
Reply:myself usually about a week from start to finish.
Reply:aloe vera has stuff in it that can make healing of sunburns twice as fast and stop peeling if you put it on soon enough.make sure you get real aloe vera though cause some companies put all these diff. chemicals in with it that makes it less effective. check the ingredients on the back of the bottle to make sure.or the best way is to actaully break off a stem of an aloe plant and rub it on.oh also it is i find the best soother of sunburn symptoms too
Reply:Use preperation H next time you get too much sun. You wont peel I promise!
Reply:Aloe Vera with litocane(sp?) should help, but anyway keep the skin moist it could take about a week maybe less.
Reply:Definitely stay out of the sun because you have had a real bad reaction from being burned. I suggest using aloe vera and alternate it with petroleum jelly (vaseline), using one to cool you down and at nighttime using the vaseline. Please please please use SPF 30 at least when you go out because you don't want to damage the sensitive new skin which is real tender. Sunburn is damaged skin from the hot sun (obviously) but you want to take care of the new skin because the effects show later on. Try the Banana Boat Aloe Vera, and use the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Sunblock for when you go out in the sun. After about 2 weeks and the itching gets worse - make an appointment with your doctor to get a referral for the dermatologist. Good luck -
Reply:okay i am a very pale person and have had probably ober a couple thousand sunburns throughout my life, one thing i have learned is do not peel the skin, let it fall off it sounds gross but when it is supposed to come off it will because when you peel it and it is not ready it was take even longer to heal. try putting aloe vera on the skin to help it heal, if you dont have any aloe vera rub lotion on it whenever you see it look as though you need to peel it. this should help it heal faster and keep it from possibly leaving any marks from peeling it.

the reason your face is now itchy is because it was not ready to peel and now it is trying to heal without the skin that was there,
Reply:They say it takes a week. You can use aloe vera to help with your skin. The type I've been using is kroger aloe verz skin moisturizing gel. It's meant to prevent drying of the skin and peeling of the skin.I got sun burned on Saturday.Been using two types of aloe vera gel.Haven't peeled yet.
