Changing skin colour, why?

Need some help here. Coz I think my friend is having some kind of health problems, which I haven't discover yet. There's a friend of mine, we haven't been seeing each other for 11 years. When she was a kid (now she is 23), her skin is just like the normal asians (note: we are malaysians, race: Chinese). Our skin will have some basic brown tone, some maybe fair in nature, but she isn't. But now, her skin change so much, white or fair until we can't see the brown tone already. But her hand/arm's skin colour is still like normal. It's just her face. The colour is too white, that is what we think.





Do you know why? Is there some health problems within organs, or something, that might lead to this kind of problem. Thank you so much for you attention.

Her body has for some reason stopped producing melanin (the skin pigmentation hormone)
