Skin protection at the swimming pool?

My son started swimming lessons 3 days ago at the inside swimming pool. The chlorine and long time water exposure dries out his skin head to toe, and his skin gets all dry and sand paper like.

He is 12 years old, what things should I bring to the pool and use on him to protect his skin?

Use a sun block that has a higher SPF.

Bear in mind the the highr it is doest mean the higher the screen. It simply means the longer the time you need to re apply.

Purchase a rash guard. It will give him more protection from sun. If it gets too cold, wet suit is recommended.

Get a good lotion (one with cocoa butter or aloe vera, or tea tree oil) and have him apply that before and after he swims.

Another really simple way is to make him hop into the shower before he gets in the water. The water from the showers doesn't have chlorine and it almost creates a 'barrier' around him to protect him. That's also good for his hair (esp. if he is blonde).
