Dry Skin/Acne on skin won't go away!!!?

This is really annoying... I've had dry skin and acne on my skin for a while now. The acne on my skin isn't very bad but when i touch my skin there its sensitive and it burns/stings. i went to the docotr and he gave me a topical solution that i dab on the infected area but this didn't really help. I've been using cetaphil face wash as a soap for my face and then use the moisturuzer they offer after, but this has only helped a little. Sometimes my skin starts to peel on my forehead and its all flaky. Nothing i've tried has really helped. I was thinking about having my mom order me some proactive solution. It seems like it works well. Any advice is good! Thanks!

Reply:i use to have acne and everytime i put something on it it dryed up my skin just dotn stress it wil leave deed in time
Reply:I don't know if you are male of female but Orthotricycline (birth control) worked wonders for me. I tried everything including Proactive, it didn't work.
Reply:I would call the doc and tell her that the thing she gave you didn't work and you need another solution.
Reply:avoid as much as possible product that contains alcohol
Reply:i had the same problem..here's what i did. c, i started using Clinique dramatically different moisturing lotion for my dryness. it really works! and i always do my face everynite with noxema(make sur it has added conditioners)and cleanand clear acne pads! hope this helped!
Reply:yea cetaphil won't work that well on pimples. It's mainly just for washing makeup off and stuff like that. I think that proactive would also be the best solution.
Reply:You probably need something stronger-nothing topical has ever worked for me. You need to see your dermatologist again and tell her its not working. Maybe she can give you a pill for it, or put you on birth control to regulate your hormones and clear your skin up-see what she suggests, but its time for another visit.
Reply:I had exatly the same problem, so this is what i did:

1) went to the doctors and got some duac solution - this will clear up the acne ( however keep with it as it does take about 4weeks to properly kick in), this will make you skin very dry so

2) use a WATER BASED moisturiser, not a grease one as this will make the acne worse.

3)Use a cream wash, WITHOUT ALCHOHOL, this will dry out your skin even more. and not an exfoliator.

4) LOTS of water will definetly help stop the flaking. Just as we need water to stop getting dehydrated, our skin needs lots of water to keep its glow and to stop flakiness.

5) Stay out of the sun, this will dry it up, or if you do wear lots of sun cream.

6) Eat well and keep with a programme ( no solution is gunna help ur problem in a couple of days) it can take months but trust me the results are good.

7) be very gentle with skin as it is very sensitive, dont use a flannel, only use warm water on your hands and press LIGHTLY to stop irritating

8) for the soreness you could try e45 cream which is very good

9) dove products are also soft on skin

Hope this helped, as it did me
Reply:talk to a pranic healer or energy healer, they will surely cure it.

all the best
Reply:wash it with regular face wash and let it dry on its own. if it gets really dry after that rub your face with one of those alcohol pads. it works really well.
Reply:I know this is going to sound generic but "Noxema" would work well for your situation.

Buy the Noxema Wash (it's in a pump)

the one with extra moisturizers.
Reply:Walmart has a Proactive type treatment called Acnefree. It is also three steps with a conditioner and it works very well.
Reply:proactive is the only otc item i would recommend. DO NOT USE CETAPHIL or SOAP on your skin. soap dries skin out way too much and it wont help. If there is an esthetic school in your area, use them. It's inexpensive and you can get the same treatment that you would get in the spas. i went to school with a girl who had terrible grade 4 acne when she started. by the end of a year, her skin was so much better. she just had to worry about the scarring. sometimes a prescribed medicine can help sometimes it makes it worse. you have to use all your options though. good luck.
Reply:Just because you have acne does not mean that you have oily skin. In fact most people with acne have normal or dry skin. You have to be very gentle with acne prone skin when you wash and when you are in the sun. The more trauma that you put on the skin, the more acne and the more problems that you will have. You chose a pretty good cleanser, but make sure that it is for dry skin and that you are easy when washing it. Use a very soft cloth and dry by patting the skin. You may want to see your dermatologist or at least a qualified cosmetician. As far as moisturizing, get one with AHA (not a cheap one), or try a hypo-irritant brand (if you don't want AHA). AHA will take care of the dry, dead skin cells that are laying on your skin and also moisturize. It will make your skin feel so soft. Again, make sure that you at least talk to a qualified cosmetician. And always ask for a free analysis and if you can try the products on another part of your body (like the soft, inside of your wrist) , just to make sure that your skin if ok with the products.
Reply:I've been using Proactiv for about 8 years now and it works great for me. I used to have very dry sensitive skin - all of the over-the-counter products dried it out. If it wasn't overly oily, it was flaking off! So...i'd give it a shot. There is a money-back gaurantee also, so no risk involved.

Good luck.
Reply:Beauti Control has a full line of skin care products, for all types of skin. If you have dry skin, I know using proactive products will dry your skin more. They contain a lot of alcohol. I have personally heard from a lot of my customers that have tried proactive products, and they have said that they are very drying and harsh on your skin.

Beauti Control has an oily/acne line with addition products for breakouts. Their products are all 100% dermatoligist tested for sensitivity and effectiveness, and are completely refundable or replacable if not satisfied.

I am a consultant for Beauti Control. If you would like to check out my website go to www.beautipage.com/patferguson. There is a place under each product where you can ask for specific information/suggestions. Gary Jones is our Head of product research and development, and is extremely knowageable about specific/problem skin care concerns.

Reply:I used to have the same problem. My advice is don't try to exfoliate your skin with any kind scrubing agent. Be sure to use a soap-free soap. Neutrogena fresh foaming cleanser is a good inexpensive one. It's oil free, alcohol free and fragrance free. I would also suggest using a moisturizing mud mask in conjunction with a deep cleansing mask. Everything you put on your face should be mild not drying. You need a heavy moisturizing cream for night time and a high spf moisturizer for the day that is hydrating but not greasy. Drink lots of water, try to cut down on any processed foods and eat lots of fruits and veggies high in antioxidants. check out dr. perricone's foods list that might be helpful as well.
Reply:Try this.
