Facial skin is very dry! Is it my new moisturizer or the fact that I switched from liquid to stick concealer??

I used to use:

Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for sensitive skin, and

covergirl liquid concealer.

My skin was never dry, but it was very oily,

so then I switched to:

Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for combination skin, and

maybelline stick concealer.

and now my skin is DRY DRY DRY! and makes my makeup look cakey!

what the heck!?

Is it because of the stick concealer or do you think it's the moisturizer or a combo of the two?

I don't know what to do! My skin was too oily, and now it's too dry.

My skin is very sensitive and a lot of products make me break out. maybe a different brand of moisturizer?? it needs to be oil free though and not too expensive, and available at a drugstore.

And I can't order it online either.

please help! I feel ugly and self concious!

I also have very sensitive skin, and can only use a limited handful of products. I think it's probably just the moisturizer. Often when you change products it takes time for your skin to adapt to this product. So I say go back to the original, I would prefer oily to dry. I get dry skin to and its such a hassle.

It's probably a combination of the two. I think you should try Clean %26amp; Clear dual action. It works well for oily skin and it's gentle!
Reply:Ugh. Neutrogena sucks. I doubt your new makeup is the problem; it's most likely the different moisturizer.

You should try Clean %26amp; Clear daily moisturizer. It's light and smells good and only costs around $4 at Target.

You should also chill out.
Reply:The make up may have caused your dry skin, if your skin is that sensitive sometimes a slight change in product can trigger a reaction. First of all, don't worry and don't feel ugly, all women have had problems and no one is perfect.

Secondly, I understand how you feel, I have a similar problem. I would stick to the moisturizer if it works for you and maybe go back to the liquid concealer, not stick. If it was getting too oily, switch to something lighter with SPF. I use Dove's moisturizing face lotion with SPF and during the summer when it get's really hot I use Clean and Clear's oil free oxygenating moisturizer, it's very light and both Dove and Clean %26amp; Clear are affordable.

Right now though treat your skin properly and stop using the concealer and let your face get back to normal. Go to bed with a moisturizer on and stick to a gentle cleanser. Also, my saving grace is Clean %26amp; Clears oil-blotting sheets. Good luck!
Reply:In many years in the prestigious cosmetics business i saw countless girls with your problem...oily skins do not turn dry from products applied to the outside of the skin...oil glands are well below the surface and are not affected

I'm going to guess that you are seeing dead skin that is looking like flakes...hence the cakey part.

your skin naturally exfoliates, removes this dead skin and the new products are probably hindering this process...This is your new plan of action:

You need to wash your skin like you always have than you need to exfoliate and moisturize...Clinique has a three step process that starts at around 32.50...still too expensive? That's OK, good habits are worth their weight in gold...I still haven't found anything that beats their exfoliating scrub though...Stick concealers tend to either be little coverage and so you over apply or they are for an older drier skin.

The conclusion is that good skin care will make most foundations look good...I am currently using a Jane foundation that cost me like $3...I put my money into skincare...The other cool thing is that if you don't like skin care that you get at the department store you can return it or exchange it until you like it.
Reply:it could be a combination of both. however, from my own experience, stick concealers tend to cause dryness compared to liquids. i have combination skin and use olay moisturizer.
