Is increased skin cancer risk okay for acne products?

~ Benzoyl peroxide dramatically increases the risk of skin cancer.

~ Salicylic acid dramatically increases the risk of skin cancer.

~ Glycolic acid dramatically increases the risk of skin cancer.

~ Skin cancer rates have almost tripled in the last thirty years.

~ The age of first onset of skin cancer continues to drop.

~ Billions of gallons of sunblock has NOT reduced skin cancer rates - these rates continue to skyrocket and the age of first onset continues to decline. In addition, children spend less time outdoors than any previous generation.

These products dramatically increase skin cancer, is that an acceptable risk for you?

If not, should this information be on the products so you can make a choice?

No that is an unacceptable risk for me as i am already prone to skin cancer; and yes these products should carry a warning label
Reply:I dont think cancer is the price people would pay for not having acne. but some people just want to look good for a minute and dont think of future consequences
Reply:No. Not for me. I do believe these products should be available for those who choose to take those risks.

But there should be appropriate warnings on the labels that state the risks clearly so a personal choice can be made knowing the risks in addition to the supposed benefits - just like tobacco, alcohol and pharmaceutical products.
