Light skin vs Dark Skin African American Females?

I have nothing against light skin people but I feel like having darker skin means that the woman needs to have a better body shape and face than a lighter skinned woman she is compared to. I've heard guys talk about a girl being fine just because she's light skin. I know many pretty dark skin girls (including me, LOL) but for some reason the light skin girls will pull more guys.

Unfortunate but true. Even for Hispanics. For example Hispanic come in all different colors. There blonde hair blue eyed hispanics and and even black hispanics. The lighter girls are considered more beautiful. Have you seen mexican t.v lately? All the women are light skinned, the dark ones are either the bad guys or the maids. The same goes for black people. All the beyonce's of the world are huge stars, but the dark black ladies you only find them on late night BET.

I disagree-I think it's the total opposite. But then again, I think the darker the skin, the more attractive the girl or guy. This is probably because I'm deathly pale.
Reply:I dont agree. i mean, if you're pretty, you're pretty. i know pretty dark skin girls as well as light skin girls. I've heard the same that light skin girls pull more guys. That might be true according the boy's taste. there are ugly light skinned girls too, so it doesn't matter how light or dark your skin is. Remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Reply:I am a medium complection not really dark and not really light but I do think the statement is sadly correct right now. I say that because of the media and all the images that are shown. In pratically all of the videos the main center of attraction is the light skinned girl while the dark skinned girls sit in the background shaking what they have or just showing it like that girl buffy. Most of the females that are in the media are light skinned and by putting them in the forefront has made the average guy assume or comform that light skinned girls are prettyer (Which I don't agree I myself wish I was dark skinned).
Reply:I disagree. I think it is more a matter of tastes and preferences. Some guys prefer light skinned african american women, and some guys prefer darker african american women. The same way some men prefer blondes and some prefer brunettes. It is all a matter or taste. I just say that because i went to a high school where the majority of students there were black and i had a lot of black friends, and some guy would tell me they would only date a darker skinned girl, where as some guy would be like oh i like so an so she is light skinned and so fine. Which just shows that it really all about personal preferences.

i dont look at color of anyones skin to judge someone.and by the way it is how a person carry themself for a man to get attention. trust me it was no the color of there skin it was something they had on and made them easy prey.

Most guys prefer lighter skin girls, but im sure there are many that appreciate a dark skin girl regardless ....so i guess no im sure that they would be many fish who wouldn't mind a pretty dark skin girl.
Reply:I don't want to agree with you for two reasons I am a darker skinned African American female and 2 we don't need any thoughts like these separating us as a community. Everyone has preferences and there are men out there that prefer darker skinned females over light. So don't worry about things like this instead focus your attention on being a whole person.

I think the world also goes for whose famous and they compare it to other people. For example, Beyonce is one of the hottest stars today. I know a girl that is bright skinned, long hair and shapely and she is so stuck up its not funny! I have heard herself compare to be like Beyonce.


I think girls are beautiful regardless of their skin color or race!
Reply:I think that if the guy is only interested in what you look like he's "Mr. Wrong". I'm much more interested in what a woman thinks than what she looks like. Can I hold an intelligent conversation with her? Does she have well thought out arguments for her position? Does she like the same things I like? Don't worry about your looks. If that's all a guy is interested in he isn't worth knowing and is a good bet you don't want to know him.
Reply:No, I do not agree with you. If someone is attractive it doesn't matter whether she or he is dark skin or light skin. The whole dark versus light skin is based on that widely held primitive belief that lighter is better.
Reply:I love my dark skinned sistas. i think thats more of that new plantation mentality thats sweeping the country like the whole "something new" and most black men are on the "dl" business,it's all BS. they make up this sort of thing to hold more to mental slavery. My father used to say "they got us thinking closer to white, closer to right" i don't know if he knew how right he was.

I had an experience once when I was young that surprised me (keep in mind, I am Canadian and am very liberal minded):





I had a boyfriend who was born in Trinidad, he was of black, white and asian ancestry (a particularly handsome combination of racial genetics), he and his brothers were barely tanned in appearance (dermatologically speaking).





His mother was unbelievably upset with my boyfriend's older brother due to his selection of female to associate with... (his new girlfriend was gorgeous and came from somewhere in Africa, she had almost blue-black skin and napped hair no longer than a quarter inch).





She seemed to feel that her elder son would be lowering his chances to advance in the world because of his selection of ladies... he was in the United States Army at the time if I remember correctly and was looking to become a career officer.





Now this may have only been an old woman's personal prejudisms leaking out, and I may be unduely affected by what I witnessed (now almost 20 years ago), but I do not believe that human society advances quickly when it comes to things like racism or prejudism.





This demonstration of a "black" mother condemning her child's partner-selection merely because of the *darker* colour of her skin and shortness of her hair lead me to have very poor feelings about this whole issue... I could not understand my boyfriend's mother's reasoning then and I most certainly do not condone it now.





Raise your head up girl, and know that things have to get better one day - and that everyone has different taste in what is "good looking".

i think it depends on the guy,some guys might prefer light skin girls,it's just a matter of taste


i never compar myself to anybody else,i just know im pretty and im happy with the color of my skin.


there are a lot of celebrities that are dark skinned like gabrielle union,sanaa lathan,kelly rowland and many more.And guys like them just because they are pretty
Reply:its not really true for most guys. ama be all the way real with you girl.its only one of my friends that think darker skin girls are not worth been with.he is very light skin. and i have some friends that talk to girls regardless of their colour. me personally, i dont like girls that are darker than me. so if a girl is just like my skin tone i dont have a problem. i am not a light skin guy and i am not dark skin like buffy either. but its just a preference. one of my bredrens is very light skin like chris brown and he finds women that are darker than him attractive. but again i have not seem him with a woman that is darker than me.


in some way i think skin tone is an issue for most african americans but not all of em. i keep stressing not all of em.


but the good thing is, lately i see alot of light skin men with dark skin women. and on the side of the women, dark skin girls dont even look at dark skin brothas no more. they either wont hispanic or light skin guys.


but i dont give a damn anyway so far as i am happy with my girl. if you was wondering if she was light skin, yes she is.


but i didnt go after her because she was light skin but she was nice to me the first time we met.

all those other ppl just put what they thought sounded right versus the truth. there are no all black dark skin popular celebrities.
